Strengthening and SHM system installation on RC slab using non-linear FE analysis

Re-life of aged load-bearing structures may be more efficient and economical than complete re-building. Nowadays, the strengthening an RC structure can designed using non-linear FE analysis, taking a realistic structural behaviour into account. Within current article, this process is demonstrated in connection with monolithic slab. The slab must strengthened due to change function which increases live load. To ensure satisfactory operation SLS for increased load, flexural by CFRP strips bonded steel plates was considered. Static verification original loads performed linear analysis. capacities slabs are also determined calculation. A comparative analysis results highlights effectiveness different methods increasing stiffness capacity perform real-time monitoring question, SHM system suggested installation three types sensors. This safety reduces future maintenance costs.
